Abstract
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for freeze-drying where a liquid material is frozen on an internal surface of a vertical tube forming a hollow pipe and freeze-dried under vacuum, and freezing the liquid supplied into the tube on the internal surface of the tube forming a hollow pipe is performed leaving an amount of unfrozen liquid very trifling at the end of a freezing step.
SOLUTION: The method for freezing the liquid material on the internal surface of the vertical tube of the freeze dryer comprises forming a tube-like frozen layer by spraying the liquid material to the internal surface 10 of the vertical tube 1 with a spray nozzle (d), collecting a falling unfrozen liquid material in a liquid holder L in a pipe (k) connected to the bottom end of the vertical tube 1, transferring the collected liquid material to another tank using a recovery line (e), switching the connections of the first and second tanks (a), (b) with a supply line (c) and the recovery line (e) to continue to spray the liquid material from the spray nozzle (d) and recover the unfrozen liquid, and repeating the above operations to freeze the liquid material on the internal surface of the vertical tube 1 forming a hollow pipe.
