The present invention belongs to the field of biochemical separation and purifying technology. One new kind of hematogenesis factor of molecular weight 50000-52000, isoelectric point 3.8-4.2 and erythropoiesis promoting function is found from blood plasma and named Erythrocyte proliferating factor (EPF). EPF is initially determined to be one number in DBP. EPF is prepared with the alcohol precipitate of blood plasma after separating out albumin and globulin, and through dissolving, centrifugation, ultrafiltering, DEAE cellulose chromatography and gel filtering; and it may be prepared into freeze dried preparation. EPF and EPO may be used cooperatively to produce obvious synergistic effect of promoting erythropoiesis; and EPF will not increase blood viscosity and has no obvious toxic side effect. EPF is one natural, humanized, safe and effective erythropoiesis promoting factor.
