Sterile Products - Lyophilization
Since its commercialization in World War II as a method for preserving blood plasma and penicillin for use on the battlefront, lyophilization has become an increasingly widespread practice to stabilize process sensitive pharmaceuticals.
Our depth of experience in lyophilization, especially with process sensitive biotechnology products, ensures product success. Advanced cycle development and process validation skills, coupled with scale up procedures that are integrated between our commercial and clinical teams, make Cardinal Health an industry leader in both quality and manufacturing capacity.
Today, Cardinal Health offers a range of sterile lyophilization techniques in a cGMP-compliant environment, including:
Nitrogen back filling
Vacuum control
Primary and secondary ramp/soak
Mechanical stoppering under various pressures
T-Butanol
"At Cardinal Health we operate eight lyophilizers at three of our seven sterile contract manufacturing facilities. Duplicate capacity at these facilities gives us the ability to schedule your project for maximum efficiency and flexibility."
